Subject to the number of entrants, the League may consists of divisions
The League structure for divisions, fixtures, promotion & relegation, will be determined by the Management Committee each season.
The top team in each division shall be crowned Champions.
Should 2 or more teams tie for promotion/relegation, the issue will be decided on:
Most Points
Most Wins
Head to Head results (scores added together).
Play-off
Number of players a team shall consist of is 6, plus 3 substitute who can be used in the doubles.
Players can only play for the Team with whom they registered at the start of the season
Each Team is required to have a Captain
All players must be current Members of N.P.L.
There will be no transfer of players within the current season
A team can have any number of players registered, but only 6 + 3 can play on match day.
A match shall consist of 6 singles & 3 doubles
The 'Home' team Captain on each course, will be responsible for placing the flags at the start of the match and returning to the lock-up after the match.
In the event of there being 2 matches on the same course, the responsibility of placing the flags shall be that of the 'Home team' captain of the scheduled match & the Home captain of the second match will be responsible for returning the flags to the lock-up.
The Captains must ensure that the card boxes are shut and the lock is secure with the numbers spun.
Matches shall be played in accordance to the fixtures list
In the event of bad weather, or if the greens are unfit, a decision to play or not will be taken by both captains. The 'Home' captain informing the Fixture Secretary.
Fixtures can only be altered in consultation with the Fixtures Secretary.
All Captains will receive a fixture list 2 weeks prior to the season start.
Captains shall be updated of any changes to fixtures
No Teams can play with less than 5 players. Dates of Matches needing to re rearranged must be agreed in advance of the original fixture date.
Any team turning up with less than 5 players, for any reason, shall forfeit 2 points and the fixture shall be re-arranged and played.
No more than two 6 a side league matches per green per night is permitted.
In the event of 2 matches being played on the same course, starting will be in the order of:
Cup Matches
Scheduled League Match
Re-Scheduled League Match
Re-scheduled matches may start on the 10th green, but must not impede the progress of the scheduled match which started on hole 1.
In the event of a dispute, both Captains must submit a report, in writing, to the League Secretary within 5 days.
The Putting Committee will adjudicate and their decision will be final.
Players shall only walk on the fairways when playing a shot.
Suitable flat bottomed footwear should be worn at all times..
All Teams must fulfill their fixtures before the published date for completion of all matches.
Play commences at 6.45p.m. from the start of the season until the end of May and from 15 August to the end of the season.
Play commences at 7.00pm from 01 June, to 15 August.
Teams must not delay commencement whilst waiting for late players to arrive. If a player should arrive after the start time by no later than by 20 minutes they can still play. If a player should arrive later they are deemed too late and concede 1 point to their opponent in the singles matches. Said player can still play in the doubles matches if they arrive before the single are completed.
Should a team be short of 1 player, the opposing team can claim one of the ‘Singles’ and also a handicap of 4 shots when playing the Doubles.
The team with only 5 players can, in the ‘Doubles’, play the single player in any position (1st, 2nd, 3rd) position.
The Doubles should commence within 5 minutes of the completion of the 6th singles match.
The ‘Home’ team shall putt first then all shots to be played alternately until both balls have been holed. This will happen on all greens.
Players must not pick their ball up without their opponent agreeing to conceding the Putt. Doing so will incur a 1 shot penalty
In Doubles matches, both players of the same team must take alternate shots when teeing off as well as during match.
When teeing off, the ball must be BEHIND and INSIDE the Tee line line.
If ball is placed wide or in front of tee line opponent can request shot be retaken without penalty.
Players must wait for each other to tee off before walking along the side of the green.
Once the first tee shot has been taken, the match must carry on to it’s conclusion. If, once the first ball has been struck, the opponent wishes to play against someone else, this will not be allowed.
After both players have teed off, if their opponents ball is infringing a shot to the hole, then a player can request that either:
the opponent plays first.
the opponent marks the ball and moves it 1 putter-face length, to allow their opponent to play, then replaces the ball to the original spot.
If the ball finishes in a hole or crack on the green, the player, after first telling his opponent, can remote it and place it back on the green, but not closer to the Hole.
If the ball sits on the cup of a hole the ball will be deemed to be in.
If a player fails to move an impeding ball and strikes his opponents ball, they receive a 1 shot penalty and the opponents ball is replaced.
If an opponents ball stops on the edge of a hole, that player has the time it takes to walk to the hole plus 10 seconds, for the ball to drop into the hole.
Each Player shall keep their opponents score on the same card as their own.
The score shall be agreed after each hole.
At the conclusion of the match, both players must agree on the total scores.
The Result sheet must be filled in correctly by the 'HOME' Captain and have signatures of a member from both teams.
The match results will be decided on a ‘points’ system:
1 point awarded for winning a ‘singles’ game
1 point awarded for winning a doubles' game
a half point awarded for a drawn game
The available total per match is 9 points 6 singles and 3 doubles).
Team KO Cup will be played to the normal rules of play
The draw shall be made before the season commences and the schedule for the matches shall be in the fixtures list
If games are drawn, the match will be replayed as a complete game of 6 singles and 3 doubles.
The match can be re-played that same night, or on an arranged night determined with the fixtures secretary.
Re-played matches are played with the same Home team as per the original fixture.
Teams may change their players from the original match if they wish
Entry is in advance of the event .
Fees for the K/O Singles and Doubles events shall be set each season.
The draw shall be published in advance of the day of the competition.
Depending on the number of players entered will determine what courses matches are played on.
Matches will be played under normal putting league rules.
All drawn matches up to the Semi-Final will carry on in a sudden death format.
If Semi-Final is drawn after 18 holes, then a further 9 holes will be played, if still drawn match will carry on in sudden death format.
If the Final is drawn, then a further 18 holes will be played, if still drawn sudden death until there is a winner.
In exceptional circumstances, the Committee has the authority to decide on any matter that may not be already covered by these Rules.
